“Cherokee Park” tclf.org. The Cultural Landscape Foundation, n.d. Web 19 June 2011.
The first article I have found is an informational one. It is a short article but gives a good history of Cherokee Park. It discusses the parks origins, its location, and the distinctive landscapes of the park. This article is written by The Cultural Landscape Foundation. The exact author is not listed.
This article states, “The rich and varied scenery follows the contour of the land within four distinctive landscapes of the park: hills, slopes, a creek valley, and sinkholes.” I love the use of the word rich in this quote. Usually you would use the word rich to describe a delicious chocolate dessert. By using it to portray scenery it draws the reader in. It brings a whole new feel to the park. It is not just grass and trees it is natures work of art.
This is a good source for my paper because it gives a clear history of Cherokee park. It demonstrates that the park is a visually beautiful place. I can conduct further research on Frederick Olmsted who is the founder of the park.

This website offers an abundance of information about Cherokee park. It touches on the history of Cherokee park, tornado damage in 1974, crime in the park, and various landmarks.
On April 3, 1974 an f4 tornado came through Louisville. The website states, “A city forester surveying the aftermath said, "I don't believe that anyone alive today will see Cherokee Park as it was before the storm."” This quote will work with my narrative because it demonstrates how beautiful the park used to be. It is still a wonderful place but this quote shows how people cared about the park forty years ago and how it is still a treasured place today.
I can definitely use information from this source to further my research. The website talks about a bronze turtle that people would hide in different parts of the park. This lead to several articles being written about the turtle. Headlines such as "Cherokee Park Turtle on the Loose Again" were printed. Eventually the turtle was bolted down and people were not longer able to play the hiding game. This took place in the 1960’s. I want to find where the turtle is in the park now and take a picture of it for my blog. I would also like to find the actual article on the turtle.
